This class is designed for correctional officers who may be assigned to serve as members of a hearing board conducted under the Correctional Officers Bill of Rights. At the conclusion of this training the participants will be able to: explain the substantive provisions of and application of the COBR; direct and critique the COBR investigative process; interpret and apply the principles of administrative law; evaluate hearing procedures and principles of evidence and conduct adversarial hearings; determine appropriate standards for imposition of discipline; and describe appeal processes.
This class will prepare correctional officers to conduct administrative hearings under COBR by providing instruction in administrative law, the specific content of the COBR, how to manage disciplinary hearings, the writing of the final report and recommendations. This NO-COST program offers 6 hours of In-Service Credit.
