The Foundations of Leadership Program lays a foundation for future leadership development. Using a transformational leadership framework, the program focuses on the importance of self-awareness, self-management, accountability and trust, and facilitates a deeper understanding of the basic processes of working effectively with and leading others. This course has been updated for 2018.
Topics include: Overview of Leadership Principles and Practices; Power, Influence and Human Motivation; Fostering a Culture of Trust and Accountability; Self-awareness and Self-Management; Interpersonal Communication Skills for Leaders; Building and Leading Effective Teams; A Leaders Perspective on Workplace Conflict; Leading Change and Transition; and Planning, Purpose and Commitment: Making a Real Difference.
The Foundations of Leadership (FOL) program reflects the recognition that leadership is not dependent on job title or rank; that persons at any level can and should develop and practice leadership skills. Participation in class requires completion of a brief assignment prior to the start of class. (Students will receive information and instructions via e-mail at least one week prior to the first day of class). Completion of a brief written assignment on the last day of class is also required for successful completion of the program.

Please Note: Registration includes morning and afternoon beverage service, a leadership resource notebook, and a copy of the book “Learning Leadership: Five Fundamentals of Becoming an Exemplary Leader” by James Kouzes and Barry Posner.
