Class Description
7101 51st Street, College Park, Maryland 20740 8:00am - 4:00pm ---------------------------------------- Section 1 - The new instructor training session (Section One) is designed for the MPCTC certified instructor who is not certified as a first responder, EMT-B, CRT-99 or EMT-P lead instructor. By attending both sections of the LEEMCC Instructor training, the new instructor will then be qualified to teach a supervised class, leading to approval as a LEEMCC lead instructor. The Section One training covers a very rapid review of the significant changes and new points from their previous first aid training that is covered during the course of the full LEEMCC training that they will teach. Some examples may include the changes in the treatment for bleeding care, care under fire, and patient assessment information. The instructor candidates will then complete a series of practical evaluations pulled from the course scenarios that will assure their patient care competencies. These scenarios shall include Care Under Fire, Wound Management, and Patient Assessment. Finally, the instructor candidate shall take the LEEMCC course written examination and must obtain a minimum score of 80% or greater to continue in the program. Section 2 - The instructor orientation session (Section Two) is designed for both the MPCTC certified instructor who is not certified as a first responder, EMT-B, CRT-99 or EMT-P lead instructor as well as the previously certified first responder, EMT-B, CRT-99 or EMT-P lead instructor who desires to become a LEEMCC lead instructor. The Section Two training is an in depth review and discussion of the course policies, curriculum standards, the use of scenario based training within the course, support materials, and assessment materials. Upon completion, existing first responder instructors or higher may function as primary LEEMCC instructors. New instructors must satisfactorily teach a course under the supervision of a qualified lead instructor before being certified as a LEEMCC instructor. Pre-requisite - The instructor candidates should obtain a copy of the course lesson plans (power point presentations) from their sponsoring agency or the LEEMCC Instructor Corner listed on the MIEMSS Web Site. It will be the responsibility of the instructor candidate to review these materials prior to attending the instructor training session. Candidates should bring these materials to the training session. Personnel who do not have access to the LEEMCC Instructor Corner should contact Pete Fiackos at 410-706-3666 to obtain access.
