This case study presentation will cover the facts and circumstances surrounding the murder of Correctional Officer Jeffrey A. Wroten of the MD Division of Corrections while escorting a convicted felon at the Washington County Hospital on January 26, 2006. The session also will discuss the importance of proper handling of convicted felons outside of the correctional environment while armed. Attendees will learn how this tragedy may have been prevented through training and departmental procedures.
