Correctional Defensive Tactics Instructor Training

 

General Description
This course will teach candidates the skills needed to teach defensive tactics at the academy and in-service level. The course will address all the objectives as detailed by MPCTC. This Seven day course will include lectures: History of DT, DT and corrections, Use-of-force issues, transfer of knowledge, safety in training, drill design, and more. The course will concentrate on practical lessons of skills, including: combatives, self-defense techniques, ground fighting, weapon defenses and retention (edged weapon, handguns and long guns), Candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a Defensive Tactics Instructor certification. This training is a very intense, hand on and physically demanding course. Be prepared to sweat!

Class Description
This course will provide candidates with the skills needed to teach defensive tactics at the academy, in-service level,and other areas as necessary. This course will address all the objectives as detailed by MPCTC. This Seven day course will include lectures: History of DT, Police and Corrections, Use-of-force issues, transfer of knowledge, safety in training, drill design and more. This course includes crucial elements to enhance staff safety and confidence during dangerous times, mindset and fear management. Improving verbal tactics, de-escaltion stratagies and dealing with different assaults. Stand-up combatives, extreme close quarters, ground fighting, maintaining your weapon to include: in-holster, out of holster, and weapon take aways. Course address long-gun, handgun, and edge weapon defense from different angles, solo hand cuffing, partner protection, counters to chokes, and strangulation from every angle. You will learn to survive from both stable and un-stable platforms. This course is jam-packed with life saving tactics which is invalable to your agency.
