The Division of Parole & Probation Monitor Academy consists of academic instruction and supervisor/mentor monitored field training. The pre-service and academy are held at the Public Safety Education and Training Center in Sykesville, Maryland. During Field Training, students are to report to their field offices to complete specific tasks. The Field Training dates will be provided during the academic portion of the academy.
As a condition of your employment, the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) must certify Monitor Recruits. Certification requires Recruits’ successful completion of the Academy. Recruits are required to sign into the classroom by 8:00am each morning, and are dismissed no later than 5:00pm daily. Dormitory space is available at the Academy for $25 per night. Contact your Parole and Probation Supervisor or Regional Administrator for reimbursement approval and eligibility; note that this must be arranged in advance. The Academy’s Pre-Service begins Wednesday, November 13, 2024 and the Academy will officially begin on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Graduation will be held on December 6, 2024.
