MCPI-DARE Officer Training

General Description
Certification of new DARE Instructors to include: DARE curricula, working effectively in schools, comprehensive teaching strategies and methodologies, youth development and behavior management. Lodging for the two week course is offered free of charge to client agencies. Some out of class preparation assignments will be required. Certification granted by DARE America and MPCTC upon successful completion of mandated objectives. Candidates are required to have a minimum of two years law enforcement experience, unless waived by DARE America.

Note: Client-agencies are defined as Maryland certified agencies under the regulated authority of the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commissions (MPCTC). Interested persons from non-client (out-of-state) agencies can email a signed registration form which will be reviewed by the Maryland DARE Coordinator to Katie.Johnson@maryland.gov. All forms must have an approving signature in order to register the student. This can be an agency head, supervisor, or training coordinator – someone to authorize the student to take this course. Due to the fee associated with this program, MD Police & Correctional Training Commissions requires credit card information in order to process non-client enrollments (Visa or MasterCard).
