The Crisis De-Escalation program is a discussion about the tools, strategies, and technique that will allow corrections staff to help reduce crisis situations, improve safety, and promote better outcomes for inmates with mental illness. CDT assists staff in facilitating a reduction in use of force, lessen report writing, deter the chance of injury. The 40 hour training includes classroom presentation, Hearing Voices Experience, role play resolutions, outside speakers, and concludes on the final day with student performing a short “teach back” of a selected portion of the curriculum. Students will be provided with a binder with instructional material and a flash drive containing instructional material to include lesson plans, Power Points, and videos.
