This course is designed to enable public safety practitioners to develop strategies and skills for wellness. Topics include goal setting, fundamentals of physical fitness, cardiovascular health, nutrition basics, weight management, and stress.
This class will be part lecture and part lab. Students will complete a SMART GOAL template that aligns with the FITT principle and methods for reducing and assessing stress levels. They will practice stress management techniques and discuss how to monitor progress toward personal fitness goals (Fitness Tracker, etc.).
A portion of the class will take place at the Physical Training Center; students will active practice a few techniques so athletic gear is appropriate dress code.
