This course is designed to enable public safety leaders to learn a common sense practical approach to improving their written communication skills. Topics to be covered include principles of human interaction, understanding the issue of writing from knowing the problem to finding the solutions, and communicating effectively while understanding different points of view.

Class Description
Do you have difficulty organizing your thoughts into writing? Have you ever sent a written communication that is not clear? Are there misspellings and incomplete sentences, and the paragraphs are so long and confusing that it takes you three times more than it should to write the information you want. Learn how to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately in writing when sending an email, doing an incident report, letter, annual performance reviews, or documentation. Once you identify your target audience you will learn to organize your thoughts, structure & write your report, and edit the message or document.
