Applying the 4th Amendment - Search & Seizure for Criminal Investigators

This course will include such topics as developing and managing informants, search warrant preparation, limits of a valid search with a warrant, search warrant exceptions, valid consent searches, searches of electronic devices, warrant requirement for GPC devices, Knock and Announce Rule/No Knock Warrants, exclusionary rule/fruit of the poisonous tree doctrine, and procedures for safety executing a search warrant. The program will be delivered by experienced investigators and Assistant State’s Attorney from the Combined County Criminal Investigation Unit of Allegany County.

Topics include Defining Search and Seizure, reasons the Search and Seizure is done, how to write a Search and Seizure Warrant, raid planning and execution and evidence recovery and documentation.
